Welcome to "Sponsor a Canisolida Foster Dog"

Contributions are tax deductible - we send acknowlegement letters promptly for monetary donations for your tax purposes.

When a new foster dog comes into our program, we keep our focus on ensuring the excellent care of them while they stay in our sheltered care, awaiting their adoptive home or remaining in our care as a retirement dog. Keeping them nourished and vetted are primary, as well as ensuring they are comfortable and happy in a loving home environment.

At a usual minimum, foster dogs will stay in our foster care for a month, and most times their length of stay is longer. Of course, our retired dogs stay with us "forever." Our sponsor program is based on the veterinary and medicine expenses required to care for a foster/retirement dog in our program.

Arrival to Canisolida: 8/1/09, Adoption: Faith is now ready to be welcomed by a loving adoptive home. You can view her personal website at this link!

Faith will require veterinary visits ongoing as needed for a healthy delivery and possible support for her pups, as she came to us with kennel cough and undernourished. Update - Faith developed mastitis while she nursed and her pups, therefore, required hand rearing (lots of formula!). In an interim visit, we also found out that Faith is heartworm positive. Once Faith's puppies go to their forever loving homes, we will focus on the veterinary needs of Faith. For now, we are focusing on improving her nutrition, having her gain much needed weight, and ensuring her life is very happy. Faith is a treasure and such a wonderful lady. Further update: Faith is now spayed, HW negative, and completely up to date on all her vet care and healthy. She is ready to be adopted!

Winnie

Arrival to Canisolida: 7/3/09, Adoption: Winnie will remain as one of our retirement mastiffs in her wonderful volunteer retirement home.

Winnie requires monthly incontinence medication in the amount of $25.00 per month. She has undergone emergency cyst removal, routine veterinary care, and we also purchase her monthly heartworm medication. Thus far (as of this writing which is 8/14/10), we have this amount spent for Winnie's veterinary needs: $2229.79

Arrival to Canisolida: 2/4/10, Adoption: Nudge will remain as one of our retirement dogs in our group home facility, however if there is a loving home willing to adopt him, we will not impede the process.

Nudge is a heartworm positive patient. He also required all vaccinations and grooming. Thus far (as of this writing which is 8/14/10), we have this amount spent for Nudge's veterinary needs: $453.24
